The rains finally abated and on on this sunny Sunday, I decided to head out with just the mundane task of doing the groceries in mind. But I did brought along the camera hoping to snap shots of Cubao, a place that was home to us as kids. I don’t know, I just need to do something. Get busy. Get away if I can.
Spontaneity kicked in and I headed to Quiapo instead. I finally have pictures to boast that I brought my camera to Quiapo and actually used it. b_(^.^)_d **that’s my version of thumbs up. tama ba?**
The Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene or the St. John the Baptist or simply the Quiapo Church is always my first stop whenever I go to Quiapo. I never knew that taking pictures inside the church was prohibited. I thought it was weird.
It’s prohibited to take pictures inside and so I went out and positioned myself next to a police outpost. 😀
After asking around where the Manila Central Post Office was, I set out to conquer Jones Bridge. On foot. Because the manong said, I can walk the stretch and so I did.
As I bring out my camera at Jones Bridge, my palpitations were so loud it almost felt like I’m beckoning snatchers to me. 😛
I saw a group of kids who are about to swim in this water. I wanted to take a snap but thought better of it. I crossed to the other side instead. Mahirap na.
The murky and putrid smell of the water did not stop the kids from swimming in the Pasig River.
It was a short walk and soon enough I was already at the Manila Post Office. It was a such a sad, majestic decrepit of a structure. There were informal settlers lounging around the grassy parts and the litter and fetid smell that come with this problem is almost a given.
Turn right at the end of Jones Bridge and the Manila Post Office is standing in its grand decrepit state.
The Liwasang Bonifacio right in front of the Manila Post Office is in the same state of neglect. There was even a woman washing clothes near the fountain. It was really sad.
The state of neglect of this place is just unbelievable.
It’s past 430PM already and so I headed back to Quiapo and traversed once more the stretch of Jones Bridge.
It was nice that a kalesa passed by to complete the scene.
I zoomed this on my camera and the mom was telling her kid to smile for me. Sweet!
Coming from the side of the Manila Central Post Office, Jones Bridge will lead you to Plaza Lacson, with the Roman Santos building dominating the scene.
It was a very hot afternoon so I decided to cool at nearby department stores, Isetann and SM. It was at SM Clearance Outlet where I found these steals. The shoes were just P300 from 699.95, the miniskirt and white sleeveless blouse that can double as a dress (just wear a long cardigan/jacket with it) were eye-popping at P50 each!!! By the way, the blouse was initially priced at P400. I was so stoked with my purchases. 😀
That branch is every kikay’s haven! 😀
