Travel Diaries: Places of Interest in Singapore

I’ve had enough malls and shops in my last two visits to the Lion City and I convinced my friends that we go off-the-beaten path and visit some other landmarks. We were still unable to go to most of it because we stayed far from the center (but the condo was very charming and our host too! 🙂 )

Some of these places are still on my wishlist and I will visit them when my schedule permits me.

Just click on the headers to get more details on these places.

Changi Prison

Ever since we visited the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in Cambodia, I have developed a very late interest in history. It was one thing to learn it in school and another to see history right in front of you.

Singapore Art Museum

It was just plain luck that we chanced upon this landmark as we were just walking about. For the next four places, just alight at Dhoby Ghaut MRT station and do a photowalk; you’ll find a lot interesting subjects worth snapping a shot or more.

The Singapore Art Museum

Singapore Management University

This university is in such an amazing location and it’s accessible to the public as there is an MRT station in the vicinity.  We crossed the street from the Singapore Art Museum and entered the university. They have cool coffee shops and other retail stores inside. I can actually live here ♄

You’d want to go to school everyday if you study here 😉

National Museum of Singapore

This is just across SMU and it’s hard not to notice this very elegant structure. Though we weren’t able to go inside due to the many errands we have yet to do, we settled for some photo ops outside.

Fort Canning Park

We thought we would miss this one but as it turns out, it was just right behind the NMS. Sweet!

You can also find the Singapore Botanic Gardens here… though we weren’t able to explore the place as much as we would have wanted but it was nice spending some precious few minutes here.

These vibrantly-colored flowers are scattered in Fort Canning Hill

 Asian Civilization Museum

We missed this one entirely. I read good reviews in Trip Advisor and in other travel forums about this one. It showcases Singapore’s ancestry and culture and its connection with Asia and the world.
