This is the inevitable.  I know it will  happen soon after Willie’s on-cam display of ARROGANCE, INDECENCY and INSENSITIVITY last August 3 and Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon did not fail. Yay! hahaha…

Joey is just as nasty sometimes but he chooses the people he vents his nastiness on. Not that it makes it right but he made a good choice on this one.

This Willie person thinks he is so indispensable to ABS CBN because he is raking in millions; that he can publicly humiliate the staff, dancers and even contestants.  As if that’s not enough, he makes advances at sexy contestants! For lack of better description, I’ll just call him a low-down-maniac-wallowing-in-undeserving-wealth.

Yes, he already issued an apology. Not that it matters because he issued it three days after his display of rudeness. It took him that long to cook up some lame excuse for his brainless arrogance.

I have never in my life seriously hated someone I don’t know as much as I hate this SUPERFICIAL DIM-WITTED LAME EXCUSE for a person!

Let’s say, he meant well… but if it was really difficult for someone as daft as he, then he should have let that girl stop her equally lame talent and offered a few moments of silence as RESPECT.

I can only hope that ABS CBN executives do something about this.

Much has been said about Maria Corazon Cojuangco Aquino. It’s safe to say that she did not have the perfect administration but because of her and her husband, Ninoy, we are enjoying the freedom we often take for granted. She’s the plain housewife in yellow who stood and fought the authoritarian rule of Ferdinand Marcos and succeeded. And as unassuming as she was, she keeps forgetting that she has privileges as president.

Here are a few tidbits I gathered on the news and tv specials on President Cory:

• During a visit in a rural area, one was overheard saying, “Yun ulit ang damit niya? (She’s wearing the same dress again?)” It was relayed to her and she merely said, “Yes, I’m the President. But I’m the president of a poor country.”

Pretty much poles apart from this one atrocious first lady who said, “Filipinos want beauty. I have to look beautiful so that the poor Filipinos will have a star to look at from their slums.” Seriously pathetic. Preposterous. Tasteless. Insensitive.

And if that is not enough, another garbage spewed from the dumpster. “Never dress down for the poor. They won’t respect you for it. They want their First Lady to look like a million dollars.”

Don’t ask me where the brain went. I don’t know either.

• She refused to use the siren (the infamous wangwang) when her convoy passes by. Instead, her Presidential Security Group (or whatever they’re called) would use the megaphone and announce, “Makikiraan lang po. Dadaan po ang Pangulo,” or something to that effect.

Unlike some people who just happen to breathe the same rancid air as the current head of state, they are actually the ones causing traffic because they want all the vehicles in EDSA to make way for them. And their escorts will raise hell if you don’t let them pass.

• She led the Revolutionary Government in 1986; ratified a new constitution in 1987, which gives her the chance to extend her term but she did not. Instead, she endorsed Fidel Ramos to run for president in the 1992 elections. No trace of greediness there. Unlike what’s the name of that Girl Most Abhorred (at the moment) again???
• She doesn’t want to be treated differently. In gatherings, she will sit on the same chair as everybody does; she doesn’t need that special ‘high chair’ to let everyone know that she is the most important person in the table.
• In her last few days, she managed to ask one of her daughters to ensure that the people in their home at Time Street are given their salaries and allowances.
• She prepares one mean liver pate, according to Mayor Alfredo Lim. And if she ever prepares one for you, that means she’s really thankful for whatever it is that you’ve done.
• She dyes her own hair.  No fancy salon for Madame President.

As I’ve said, I know she’s not perfect. But who is? All I know is that I am enjoying my freedom because of Ninoy and Cory; something that people in the 70s could only hope for. I can go out in the streets to protest or write just about anything without fearing that I might be taken into custody by the government.

More than two decades has passed and I want to believe that the Filipino is (still) worth dying for.

What supposed to be a gloomy and stormy day became an otherwise sunny, happy day for a commuter like me. On a glorious day, I just walk to my office after alighting at the corner of Chino Roces (Pasong Tamo) and Buendia but on a stormy and rainy day like this, life is hell for people working in this area.

The streets are all flooded with tire-high murky water and I swore to myself I will not set foot on that flood. Ever. And so, I decided to ride the jeep. The first one told me to get another ride because he will make a detour and won’t be passing by my building. So I did.

It was a 10-minute ride from the street corner to King’s Court. I can do that on foot in five minutes tops. But that’s not the story. When I finally came to my stop, I told manong driver that I will alight on the street where there is no flood. And you wouldn’t believe what happened next.

Both sides of Chino Roces Avenue is already flooded so there are few vehicles treading the street. And manong driver counter-flowed and said, “Teka, wag ka muna bumaba. Sampa natin sa sidewalk para walang baha”. I was so overwhelmed with his kindness that I blurted out, “Manong sobrang bait niyo naman. Maraming salamat po talaga.”  And my co-passengers was really happy with his act of kindness; no trace of irritation because they got inconvenienced for two minutes.

I mean, I did not pay him a  hundred pesos; just the regular fare and I got more than I paid for. Once again, I experienced that unexpected kindness from strangers.  Something that is just so rare these days. Something that will make you say, meron pa din talagang mababait na tao sa mundo.

Manong driver, I may not know you but God knows who you are and He’s just so proud of you.

Just what is wrong with Freddie Aguilar to unleash such tactless litany to the other artists? I’m by no means a huge fan of Charice Pempengco,Arnel Pineda and Gary V,but Ka Freddie definitely lost it in his tirade.

“E, pinatotohanan lang ang sinabi ni Mariah Carey na tayong mga Filipino ay mga unggoy. Kasi, wala tayong sarili, gaya-gaya lang tayo. Nasa Amerika ka na, binigyan ka na ng pagkakataon na kumanta sa Oprah, bakit kumanta ka pa ng kanta ni Celine Dion? Sinabi ni Mariah na mga unggoy ang Filipino, gaya-gaya lang kayo, e, di napatunayan nga, totoo nga. “Kasi, di ba, what monkeys see, monkeys do. Dapat ang kinanta niya, bakit hindi ‘Dahil Sa Iyo’ o kaya ay kahit ano, basta kantang Filipino? O kaya Visayan, Ilocano… lalo siyang sisikat sa buong mundo nun,” Freddie says.”

He seriously said these. And IMHO,what he said is nothing but crap. Arnel and Charice got discovered in YouTube; became phenomenal that they were invited to guest in The Ellen Degeneres’ Show and Ka Freddie is saying Charice should have sung Visayan to an American audience???!! You got to be kidding. Really. Because that would have been the end of her career.

We watched The Journey’s concert here in Manila and Arnel is so proud of his roots. And he declared that in a crowd where the VIP seats are filled with foreigners, you’d think you’re watching the concert in the US.  Plus, how can he even sing Tagalog when Journey is a foreign band to begin with?

And if Freddie Aguilar is really bent on dissing other artists who made it in the international scene, why did he leave Lea Salonga out from his delirious ranting? If he implied that Arnel and Charice are “unggoys”… that makes Lea an orangutan then????

Patriotism is not measured by how fluent you speak the Filipino language.  Jose Rizal spoke French, Spanish, Japanese among other languages and he’s our national hero. So what gives????

Please stop the self-righteousness.It only makes you look like you’ve eaten a really sour grape and that your mentality isn’t that of an ape but that of a crab.

I have to read the name on a newspaper column twice just to make sure that I read it right.  I can’t believe that Senator Juan Ponce Enrile is using prepaid.  Well, he has two phones: a post-paid one is with his security aide and a spare prepaid phone that he uses when his security aide is not around.

I never thought that’s possible. He’s a senator and a veteran politician and I can’t believe he uses prepaid. I mean, I’m a regular citizen but I’m on post-paid because I don’t like the hassle of having to load every so often. Plus, it gives me a sense of security that whatever happens, I can make that one important phone call.

Back to JPE, he was fuming because his prepaid load kept on disappearing or declining when he didn’t even use it the whole day. And so, more than a month ago, he made a privilege speech to present his prepaid dilemma.

Fast forward to present.  Now prepaid subscribers found a hero in Senator JPE.  As there are already directives from NTC to make the prepaid validity longer.  In an Inquirer article, Globe, Smart and Sun Cellular still have to study the new scheme that NTC is proposing:

“According to the new scheme, credits of P10 to P20 will be valid for seven days; over P20 to P30 for 10 days; over P30 to P40 for 14 days; over P40 to P50 for 17 days; over P50 toP60 for 20 days; over P60 to P70 for 24 days; over P70 to P80 for 21 days; over P80 to P100 for 30 days; over Pl00 to Pl50 for 45 days; over Pl50 to P200 for 60 days; over P200 to P300 for 90 days; and over P300 to P600 for 150 days.”

Now this is something worth looking forward to.

My brother introduced me to the brewed coffee at 711. It’s got the taste of premium coffee but at a much cheaper price compared to Starbucks, Coffee Bean, etc. Its price ranges from P45 to P55. Ya huh!

The coffee is so delish. They have the Midnight Blend, Caramel Macchiato and Cappuccino. They even have the Hershey’s Hot Choco Loco for those who are not coffee addicts.

No baristas here. Pay up in the counter and they’ll give you the cup lid and sleeve. Go to the coffee machine and off you go.

I’m not a big fan of  Mondays but listening to my favorite radio program gave me the much needed boost.  The Morning Rush is aired over at Monster Radio RX 93.1 and hosted by the funny Chico Garcia and the cute cornball, Delamar.
