The Lion, The Music and The Knight
I haven’t thought of anything to write for two weeks. Not that nothing interesting came up. Or I haven’t been anywhere but the office and back home again. It’s just that, my mood and my laziness are getting the better of me.
I actually got to watch Mamma Mia! (the Movie) two Fridays ago with my two dear friends and we soooo love it! I just have to control myself from singing and dancing in the theatre. I was surprised that Meryl Streep and Colin Firth could sing! I was cringing in my seat when Pierce Brosnan was singing. Not that I don’t like him; he’s a gorgeous man and all but… I wasn’t sure if I like to see him sing again. It was really an awkward sight. But maybe, it’s just me.
I was thinking, Colin Firth would have been a better choice for Sam’s character. But then, Pierce is the bigger actor between the two of them. Or maybe Richard Gere should have been given the part instead. Now that’s someone who’s just as gorgeous as Pierce but not as awkward since he’s done Chicago before.
The very next day, I watched Dark Knight with a group of friends. And this was the best Batman movie ever for me. Heath Ledger deserves an award for his role here. He outshadowed everyone in the movie including Batman himself. I came across a newspaper article that even his co-stars are in awe whenever his scenes are being shot. They would watch him during his takes and they would all be amazed at how good he is.
You must be wondering when the lion is going to come into the whis whole scenario. A friend sent me a video link to watch and I was apprehensive at first because it could be one of those prank videos again who aim to scare the living daylights out of you. But this one will surely touch you. Amaze you, even; at how wonderful nature is and how great God made all creatures… big and small.
You say Pierce is the bigger star? He has better name recognition in the US, that’s a given, but you have to admit that Colin Firth is the better actor. (And a total sex God in my opinion.) Pierce lost his looks that made him famous while Colin just keeps getting better with age.
That said, comparing careers and versatility, Colin wins hands down. The US just doesn’t get that he is soooooooo much more than the Darcy characters. You have got to see his dramatic roles to appreciate the man’s talents. Also, He has sung in film before.
As for him taking the role of Sam? Nah. He had way too much fun with Harry. Firth has a huge (sometimes bawdy) sense of humor and I think he took this role and ran with it. He also has always felt he is a character actor and not a leading man, plus he is a bit weary of romantic roles and only takes them if the rest of the script interests him. (or if the director or the co-stars are persons he’s wanted to work with) He’s not a big “Hollywood” name and isn’t particularly worried about that fact either.
He has done so much excellent work since Pride and Prejudice in varied fielsds of romantic/comedy, comedy and drama. I wish others would try to see how talented this man is. He doesn’t play Hollywood’s game and that’s likely a big factor regarding the little promotion both he and his films get here unless he is in a movie with “Big Name” stars.

Have you seen Pride and Prejudice? The one you borrowed. Well if you want to see Colin Firth when he was just starting, you should try checking it out. He’s cool.
omg!!! when i heard colin firth sing….my heart stopped & i decided that i’ll leave my husband for him…..bwahahaha!!! kidding aside, he sang so sweetly. his voice wasn’t the greatest but i love listening to it.

super love his voice too especially in the song, Our Last Summer… hay! parang matutunaw ako… hehehe…
nakaka touch talaga ung video… there were some pathetic people who actually edited the whole thing to make it look like the lion attacked his two owners. mga walang magawa..
